Virtual Roundtable: Sustainable Travel in a Post-pandemic World | DestinAsian

Five travel industry experts weigh in on whether or not the Covid-19 pandemic represents a turning point with growing numbers of people demanding more responsible travel, and if the aftermath will simply be a return to business as usual. As national borders across Southeast Asia remain shut to foreign visitors, we address immediate concerns on the ground, particularly the immense pressure now facing tourism-funded wildlife protection programs. Also touched on in this discussion are strategies that hospitality operators are using in the initial recovery phase and the importance of pursuing both a top-down and bottom-up approach in sustainability plans—ensuring a future that will benefit not just businesses but also the environment and local communities.
